Wood
The broom's frame is made of wood. It is selected for its strength and durability, then crafted into traditional shapes specific to each collection. We primarily use two types of wood:
- Beech (Fagus sylvatica) : known for its strength, stability and fine grain
- Thermally modified ash : subjected to a high-temperature heat treatment (over 100°C for 48 to 72 hours), improving its resistance to moisture and its durability
Fibers
A good broom depends on the choice and density of its fibers. The fibers represent approximately one-third of the broom's total weight , ensuring good balance and durability. At Andrée Jardin, we favor fibers of natural or plant origin.
- Horsehair : a historical material, dense and supple, ideal for precise sweeping
- Tampico : a plant fiber derived from agave, which is stiffer and more resistant
Handcrafted
Our master brush makers craft each broom by hand, with particular attention paid to the regularity and density of the fibers.
- Drilling with a diameter of 5 mm and a depth of 10 mm , over 7 rows
- 12 mm spacing between each hole
- staggered arrangement for optimal fiber density
- Fibers folded in half, implanted tuft by tuft and secured with staples
Quality control
Each broom is manually checked at every stage to ensure consistent quality.

- The fibers are combed and brushed by hand , allowing for verification of the regularity of the implantation and the strength of the fibers.
The brooms are then checked one by one, and then labeled with their usage instructions.

For a parquet floor
Parquet floors require a more delicate approach. Choose a broom with soft fibers, made from plants such as natural horsehair or tampico. These soft fibers allow you to effectively clean the surface of the parquet floor without risk of damaging it. The CRAFT broom , designed with 100% natural horsehair fibers, will be particularly suitable for capturing dust while preserving the shine of your parquet floor.
For a tiled floor
It is important to choose a stiffer broom for better efficiency. Brooms designed with a mixture of horsehair fibers mixed with tampico fibers or synthetic fibers. The Beech Broom designed with a fiber blend. Natural and synthetic black horsehair fibers. This mixture will allow your broom to be effective without damaging your floor.
