How is vetiver cultivated in Madagascar?

Vetiver is a tropical plant cultivated in several regions, including Madagascar, India, Indonesia and Haiti , each terroir offering particular olfactory nuances.

In Madagascar, the plant is propagated by cuttings . The young plants are replanted in well-drained soil and lightly irrigated at the beginning of their growth. The roots are harvested by hand from November to April , when they have reached maturity and their optimal aroma.
